Panchakanya Group has started manufacturing stainless steel water tanks using the latest technology for the first time in Nepal. But as we have learned new technology is not always better, looks like this product has the risk of being an example for this theory.
To look at this even more clearly i will go back 20 years, when Hilltake Industries introduced Plastic Water Tanks for the first time in Nepal , also a leading brand which has always been successful in bringing new technology and selling it well and has a great CSR (corporate social responsibility) Brand image as well. before Hilltake introduced plastic water tanks , Nepal was using metal/steel tanks for water storage which was eliminated right away as plastic
tanks were introduced. this was because steel/metal are conductors of heat hence most of the insulation techniques are not very effective. this was just one reason among many other which contributed to eliminating steel/metal tanks and switching to Plastic. Steel/Metal do not get recycled in Nepal yet, due to lack of recycling plant hence the environmental cost of these products increase hugely as we know that steel/metal usually do not have a lifespan greater than 50 years, especially when used outdoor it can differ and these materials can also rust with time. so they would just be dumped after use since the transport cost to transfer material to an neighboring country for recycling can be expensive.
